Inspired by the spirit of nuance, curiosity, and innovation embraced by Israel Treks, we are proud to offer itrek Microgrants of up to $1,500.
itrek Microgrants support alumni-led initiatives around the world that achieve one or more of the following goals:

Who is eligible to apply?itrek Alumni Leaders and Alumni Participants including from Israel Treks canceled due to COVID-19 and insideIL interns. Alumni can apply individually or as part of a team.

What is the minimum and maximum amount I can request?Requests can range from $500 - $3,000.

How will I receive my funds?Funds will be issued in the form of reimbursements following proof of receipts/payment. You can request 50% of your funds at the start of the project, and the remaining 50% after project completion. Reimbursements will be processed via ACH (U.S. applications) or PayPal with receipts. If your country does not have PayPal, please clarify within your application.

Once approved, how long do I have to use my funding?You will have 6 months from your approval date to start using your grant funding. If you need an extension, let’s talk.

How will applications be reviewed?Applications will be reviewed and considered based on the project’s goal, intended impact, ability to fulfill at least one of the goals of the Microgrants program, and reflection of itrek’s values and guiding principles. Applicants will hear back from itrek within 3 weeks of applying.

Who provides Microgrants funding?itrek, "a 501(c)(3) US-based nonprofit organization" provides the microgrant funding. itrek is supported by a broad base of foundations and individuals, including more than 400 former itrek Leaders, all of whom share a common investment and belief in providing an authentic peer-led Israel experience to future influentials. These passionate individuals help to make our work possible and are an integral part of our future success. None of itrek’s funding comes from any government (including Israel's).

What are some project examples?For project inspiration, check out our past grantee section.

Do I need to promote itrek through my project?There is no requirement to do so, but you are welcome to acknowledge itrek through your work.

Is it possible to receive more than one grant?You can apply to receive up to two grants for the same project/continuation of a project. You can apply to receive funding for new projects each cycle.

What do I do following my project?We’ll be excited to learn about your project’s impact and ask all grantees to submit a short project reflection. We'll also work with grantees to promote project impact to our network.

What will itrek Microgrants NOT cover?This is not an exhaustive list, but below are some examples of costs that Microgrants will not cover. If you’re not sure about specific costs in your proposal, please email ilana.sidorsky@itrek.org. Israel Trek reunions already eligible to be subsidized by itrek (debrief reunions, Shab-back Together dinners, virtual cooking sessions, etc.) Your travel to self-organized meetings, even if related to your project/venture (e.g. taxi to lunch meeting) Overseas travel if a similar opportunity is available in your locale or if the benefits of the experience do not justify international travel Salaries General tuition costs (for example, to subsidize an MBA or PhD program) Transport and/or accommodation that is not directly connected to the grant opportunity Direct funding of other organizations Services that you are rendering to yourself, your organization, or others (grant cannot be used to pay yourself) Services provided by your spouse or close family member Legal work (for example, legal advice, litigation, etc.) In addition, no aspect of the grant may involve an attempt to influence legislation, the outcome of any public election(s), or support of any voter registration drive
